Hackyard Build 2026:
Refund Policy

What your payment covers

Your payment of ₹2,500 covers only food and accommodation on campus:

• 2 nights’ stay at IIT Guwahati (nights of 24 and 25 October)
• 5 meals: lunch and dinner on 24 October; breakfast, lunch and dinner on 25 October

It is not a registration or participation fee. Travel and personal expenses are not included.

Payments are collected by the Technical Board, IIT Guwahati, which provides food and accommodation for the event. Each participant pays separately.

How to cancel

Email [email protected] from your application email, with your name and Team Code. The date and time (IST) we receive your email decides your refund.

Automatic full refunds

You’ll get a full refund without asking if:

• your team’s seats are not confirmed by the payment deadline because not every member paid;
• your payment arrives after the deadline, or you don’t receive a seat;
• you pay twice or pay more than ₹2,500 (the extra amount is refunded).

No refund

No refund is given if you:

• cancel after 21 October 2026;
• don’t attend;
• leave the event early;
• are removed for breaking the event code of conduct or IIT Guwahati campus rules.

Seat transfers

If you can’t attend, you can transfer your seat to another person instead of cancelling.

• The new participant must have applied to Hackyard Build 2026 through the online round.
• Email [email protected] by 21 October 2026. Hackyard must approve the transfer in writing.
• The new participant accepts this policy and the code of conduct, and must show valid photo ID at check-in.
• Any payment between you and the new participant is settled directly between you. Hackyard does not process, guarantee or mediate these payments.

Example: you paid ₹2,500 and transfer your seat. The new participant pays you directly, and Hackyard updates the participant details.

If the event is cancelled or changed

If the in-person round is cancelled, or its dates or venue change so that you can’t attend, you’ll get a full refund of your payment within 10 working days of the announcement.

Refund processing

Refunds are processed by the Technical Board, IIT Guwahati, after confirmation from Hackyard. They are sent by bank transfer to the account the payment came from, within 7 working days of confirmation. Your bank may take a few more days to show the amount.

Participants under 18

Participants under 18 need a parent or guardian’s consent to pay and attend.

General

The version of this policy in effect on the date of your payment applies to you. This policy is governed by the laws of India.
