Expected conduct
Be respectful, collaborate in good faith, follow staff and venue instructions, respect consent and boundaries, credit other people’s work, and make room for participants with different backgrounds and experience levels.

Build 2026 must be welcoming, safe and useful for every participant.
Not permitted
Harassment, discrimination, threats, unwanted sexual attention, stalking, intimidation, violence, dangerous behavior, deliberate disruption, retaliation, theft, doxxing or sharing private information without permission.
Project conduct
Do not build or demonstrate prohibited harmful content. Use data, APIs, hardware and accounts lawfully. Never expose another participant’s personal data, credentials or private project information.
Reporting
Email [email protected] with the subject “Build 2026 conduct”. At the venue, contact event staff or venue security for immediate risk.
Response
Hackyard may warn, remove or disqualify a person; restrict contact; involve venue security; or contact emergency services. Reports will be shared only as needed to respond fairly and safely.
No retaliation
Retaliation against someone who raises a good-faith concern or assists a review is prohibited. Knowingly false or malicious reports may themselves breach this code.
Appeals
A person affected by a non-emergency decision may request review by emailing the conduct channel. Immediate safety actions remain in effect during review.
