Interviews and fellowship contracts
The top 10 participants receive direct interviews for ByteAsk’s open-source fellowship. Interviews are not job or contract offers.
ByteAsk may offer up to ten paid remote contracts, initially for three months. An interview does not guarantee a paid contract.
Contracted fellows earn ₹30,000 per month as a stipend, plus a ByteAsk subscription. ByteAsk controls selection and individual contract terms.
Fellows contribute to eligible C and C++ repositories and share weekly feedback on ByteAsk.
Which pull requests count?
Register with a personal email through ByteAsk’s form.
Use ByteAsk. A registered member of your team must open the pull request during 28 September–11 October 2026.
Choose an eligible public GitHub repository with at least 100 stars. Your team must not own it.
Submit each pull request URL and your team’s ByteAsk account email through the submission form.
You may submit more than one pull request. Each pull request counts for one team only.
AI disclosure and sharing your work
Do not mention ByteAsk in an open pull request until it merges, except when the repository’s contribution or AI-assistance rules require disclosure. Always follow those disclosure rules.
A team video may be posted at any time and tag ByteAsk. The video must not link an open pull request.
Validity and judging
Low-effort, spam or misleading pull requests will lead to disqualification and permanent ban from challenge.
A pull request is not eligible if the maintainer closes it as spam, AI-generated or low-effort, or blocks the submitting account.
Judging considers pull request outcomes, maintainer engagement, community interest and ByteAsk usage.
Cash, plan access and possible grants
Cash prizes: first ₹10,000; second ₹7,000; third ₹3,000.
ByteAsk delivers prizes within seven days of the winner announcement. India-based winners receive an India-usable INR reward option.
Every participant who activates their unique code and completes one ByteAsk session of 3–4 prompts receives the USD 20 Pro plan.
Pro access is available to every participant who completes activation.
Ranks 1–10 receive USD 200 worth of Ultra Plan. Ranks 11–20 receive USD 100 worth of Max Plan.
These are plan values, not cash or credits. They are separate from the cash prizes and other Build 2026 rewards.
ByteAsk may award up to ten USD 500 grants at its discretion. No grant is guaranteed.
Deadlines, results and Build 2026
Challenge opens 28 September 2026. Pull request submissions close and Pro codes expire on 11 October 2026, 11:59 PM IST.
Challenge registration uses ByteAsk’s Google Forms. It is separate from the Build 2026 application.
Results will be announced at Build 2026 on 24–25 October 2026 and published on this page.
Build 2026 is planned at IIT Guwahati on 24–25 October. Finalist demos or stage presentations take place if the event is held as planned.
